As they say, “run to the border” – this time it’s not for Mexican food but for soul food in Bushwick, Brooklyn at new restaurant Mama Joy’s, reports the Bushwick Daily. So Ridgewood, it’s close enough for you, too, since it’s just a few blocks away over on Flushing Ave (we love this kind of Brooklyn Queens mashup).

At Mama Joy’s, enjoy the rustic urban casual interior while eating classic southern dishes like hush puppies, shrimp and grits, catfish, and then there’s the beef cheeks (which might not be a part of real southern cuisine, but beef cheeks are damn tasty). There’s even an alternative of a roasted mushroom entree on the menu for the vegans in your life. Noms for all.

They’ve also got a full bar with beer on tap and whiskey for your glass, among other drinks. Brunch, lunch, and dinner are all on the menu. They might have clambakes and a backyard at some point, too. And you’ll no doubt find hipsters there, too. Ridgewood, check it out! And if you do (or if you have already) please let us know your impressions by leaving a comment.
