A pop-up pedestrian plaza is coming to the corner of Newtown Avenue and 30th Avenue on Saturday, August 25. DOT is testing it out to see if it works for the community. From the DOT press release:

As a test, DOT will close the southern tip of Newtown Ave for a day to create a pedestrian plaza. There will be tables, chairs, umbrellas and planters. Come spend time in the plaza and see how it affects the area. DOT staff will be available to answer questions and to take comments. In September, the Community Board will review the plaza proposal further.

The pop-up plaza will be open from 7am to midnight that day.
