Over the years, the Queens Library has evolved to become much more convenient than it used to be. For instance, in the past you could only return library books when the library was open, and some of the branches kept inconvenient hours for that sort of thing. Now when you want to return a book, you can do it through one of the self-service touch-screen kiosks located outside the branches at all hours. You’ll even get a receipt for your returns, which can help you avoid late fees if there’s a mix-up with returned materials.

Plus, the library has announced new, extended hours that go into effect on Monday, September 10, 2012. All branches are now going to be open until 7pm, 8pm, or 9pm on weekday evenings. Here’s the new schedule for all 62 locations. Thanks to improvements like these, it’s getting easier to access those seven million volumes at one of the largest libraries in the country.
