Originally we spotted this story on Gothamist, and we’ve found ourselves fascinated by the recent attention the roving escaped peacock in Queens has received. The peacock broke out of John Bowne High School (GMAP) a couple of weeks ago; it was there as part of their agricultural program. Turns out the NY Post was on hand to catch some video of this big bird as NYPD Emergency Service Unit tried nab it yesterday. See below:

Perhaps the bird just wanted some of the delicious ice cream from nearby Max and Mina’s, located in Kew Gardens Hills, the area of Queens where the peacock headed first. They have all sorts of unusual flavors there – maybe there’s one that peacocks like. But seriously, who knows why it escaped – it probably found an opportunity and took it.

Have you seen the peacock? Let us know in the comments. Or send us a picture if you’ve taken one of it. Who knows how long it will be out there.
