Tomato Fest 2012 at Alobar in LIC

In a couple of weeks, LIC restaurant Alobar gives props to the tomato and the local farmers that grow them during their Tomato Fest 2012, starting on September 3, 2012 (that’s Labor Day, by the way), and lasting for a week. Tomatoes will be in full swing in September, so a tomato festival is perfect for this time of year. All that week there will be a $30 prix fixe at the restaurant (2 courses and a drink), so you can get your fill of fresh, roasted, pickled tomatoes, as well as tomato jam. Mark your calendar.
