The US Open is, of course, played at the  United States Tennis Association Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, though many locals call it “Flushing Meadows” as its located in Flushing Meadows, Queens.

The Center’s grounds are made up of three stadiums – Arthur Ashe, Louis Armstrong, and the Grandstand. Opened in 1997, Arthur Ashe is the largest outdoor venue for tennis in the world, with 22,457 seats, 90 luxury suites, and five restaurants..

The previous main stadium, Louis Armstrong, opened in 1978, and holds 10,200. The Grandstand is the third largest, with a capacity of 6,000. During the tournament’s first few days matches can also be watched on the field courts throughout the grounds. The field courts offer the opportunity to get really close to the play. If you enjoy watching juniors, you can see these matches on the field courts too.  These matches can be really fun as you’ll be there standing along side of the parents and coaches.

The US Open is a tremendous tourism event for Queens, bringing an estimated 700,000 visitors to the area.
