We start this week with some hands-on activities with which to relax and re-energize – there’s beer, bacon, and Zumba in Astoria, a greenmarket in Elmhurst, and lively jazz in Flushing.

Beer and Bacon Happy Hour – Long Island City’s Rest-au-Rant is celebrating National Bacon Day on Monday with their weekly Beer and Bacon Happy Hour starting at 4pm. Although National Bacon Day is usually considered the Saturday before Labor Day, there’s no reason you can’t still enjoy the bacon-inspired cocktails and food specials today.

Elmhurst Greenmarket – Greet the post-holiday workweek with a trip to Elmhurst’s weekly greenmarket. Spend a part of your afternoon perusing the market’s fresh produce, and maybe even add a little local produce pizazz to your dinner tonight.

Monthly Jazz Jam – This monthly event at the Flushing Town Hall has been drawing spirited and enthusiastic crowds. It’s free for advanced performers, so join the gang and play the blues away. And if you don’t play an instrument but would still like to be a part of the festivities, it’s only $10 to attend.

If by any chance we missed your favorite upcoming or regular event, please let us know!
