On Friday, September 21, the inaugural Viva La Comida! Festival will be here! It is organized by the 82nd Street Partnership, a nonprofit neighborhood development company that helps promote the local business improvement district (BID) in Jackson Heights. Local food expert Jeff Orlick has also helped out the food side of things, and has put together a fantastic group of food vendors.

The 82nd Street Partnership hopes to bring many to the Dunningham Triangle area to show them what Jackson Heights has to offer. In their words, “Some of the many amazing things about the area, from the artists, to the history, to the food, are being harnessed to create one awesome night of fun, food, and entertainment.”

From 4-9pm enjoy some of the food by legendary vendors the Arepa Lady (2006 Vendy Awards finalist), Tortas Neza (up for a 2012 Vendy Award), and Patacon Pisao (2010 Vendy Awards finalist). Jackson Heights is especially known for its excellent street foods, and these vendors are some of the best of the best.

In addition to food, there will be dancing by a troupe from Mestizo Art Center, music by NY Jazz Academy, and a pop-up crafts market from DESIGN for YOU.

The Festival is free to attend! And there will be deals on food and the market.
