Bella Vista Dance Performance – This dance piece performed on Wednesday night commemorates the 10th anniversary of the massacre in Bella Vista, Bojaya (it’s located on Colombias Pacific Coast – GMAP). The performance tells the story of this tragic event, where during a 2002 battle between the guerillas (FARC) and the paramilitary forces (AUC), the entire town was displaced. Both the deaths are mourned and the strength of the survivors are celebrated. The piece was conceived and choreographed by Daniel Fetecua Soto, founding Director of NYC-based dance company Pajarillo Pinta’o; original music is by Colombian composer and musician Sebastian Cruz; and acclaimed singer Lucia Pulido lends her voice to the performance. $5 admission, free for Flushing Town Hall members.
