Texas Tenor: The Illinois Jacquet Story – Tonight at 7pm stop by the Chapel of the Three Sisters in Jamaica to view this documentary about Illinois Jacquet, an internationally famous Jazz musician. For over seven decades, Jacquet played with great musicians like Count Basie, Cab Calloway and Lionel Hampton in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s before forming his own sextet. He is best remembered for his solo on Hampton’s piece “Flying Home,” which is recognized as featuring the world’s first R&B saxophone solo.
