We wondered about the status of the summer nesting platform of Coley, the osprey being tracked via GPS through the Jamaica Bay osprey project. Coley is currently in South America (right now he’s in Colombia), and the good news is that he will have a home to come back to – his nesting platform survived Hurricane Sandy.

Unfortunately, as we’ve written before, Jamaica Bay itself did not do so well post-Hurricane Sandy. But this little bit of good news about the osprey nesting platform is a help during this recovery process. Park staff is working had to clean up the area, and we are hopeful that things will at least be starting to get back to normal by summer.
