Now celebrating its 20th year, the African Diaspora Film Festival offers 17 days of non-stop movies made in Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, South America, Central America and North America. This year, Jamaica’s Black Spectrum Theatre will screen two flicks this Tuesday, December 11. A Mother’s Love tells the story of a strong African-American woman whose taste of the good life estranges her from her husband and daughter until a friend painstakingly shows her the importance of familial love. Between Friends depicts young, middle class adults in Trinidad and Tobago. Their main focus is having fun, but their interactions question friendship, loyalty and ambition.
