It’s a bird sanctuary, a Victorian garden and a restored historical house. But on January 13, it will be a center for the arts. The Voelker Orth Museum will host An Evening of Poetry and Music with words by George Wallace and sounds by the Aaron Copland School of Music. Suffolk County’s first ever Poet Laureate, Wallace founded the online publication Poetrybay, which Stanford University selected for archiving and distribution though its worldwide LOCKSS Program. Founded in 1937, Copland is arguably the most distinguished department at Queens College.
