Over on the Astorians.com board, there has been a lot of talk about Bubba’s – it was a rotisserie chicken/Belgian frites/taco/and everything else  kind of place, now it’s a “Southern Bistro.” Recently they closed down and we were sure they were gone gone gone. Turns out they were working to remake themselves. A reliable source on the board, user TJT, wrote this about the new Bubba’s:

OK – tried it and the food was REALLY good!  Great salad made with duck confit.  Amazing Corn Chowder soup with fresh corn and a genuine flavor rather than just milk and starch.  The steak with their green peppercorn sauce was delicious.  The sauce is really something and the meat was terrific.  Even the roasted vegetables were perfect.

They are very organized for call-ahead orders and for delivery.  We will be back again and again.  The owner is passionate about succeeding this time and is very dedicated to putting out a top-notch product.  Oh – the grilled sausages (hot tapas) were delicious.  Spicy and come with a choice of sauces.  Nicely flame grilled.  I’ll be curious to hear others’ comments.

I think this place is now a seriously great restaurant.  This is an amazing transformation.  Like something off Restaurant Impossible but they did it on their own.

Well, we are certainly curious. We’ll check it out and report back.
