QNYC Event Highlight: Terrarium Design Workshop – Micro Climates for Micro Worlds

Some things never change. Terrariums are all the rage these days…just like they were in the 19th century. On March 27, the Voelker Orth Museum, a historic house with a bird sanctuary and Victorian garden in Flushing, will teach the history and utility of terrariums, once known as Wardian cases. Participants will learn how to appreciate, create and maintain terrariums, using Voelker Orth’s collection for inspiration. The museum’s beekeeper and horticulturist, Urte Schaedle, will lead the workshop, and supplies will be provided, although participants are welcome to the bring glass vessels of their choice.
