Queens represents in Best NYC Buskers list

Gothamist has put together a list of the 7 Best Buskers in NYC and we’re happy to say that buskers from Queens made the cut.

First up is Natalia Paruz, better known as The Saw Lady. You’ll find her playing her musical saw throughout the subway system, the hauntingly beautiful sounds emanating throughout any particular station. We’ve learned that she’s played her saw internationally, including with the Israel Philharmonic, as well as domestically, right here in NYC at Carnegie Hall (practice, practice, practice is what she’s done). She has helped to organize the International Musical Saw Festival, which takes place in Astoria each year (it’s June 1 this year).

You’ll often find her in Union Square or Times Square stations.

Then there’s violinist Joya Bravo, who plays hits like the Star Wars theme song, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and the Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony.” She also sings, and has been playing the subway to rais $$ to pay for her studio space – think of it as crowdfunding, old skool style.

So fun. But one busker we like to avoid is the guy with the melodica who rides the N train and has a foot fetish. No thanks.
