About a dozen Willets Point auto shops that were closed by the city two weeks ago will reopen by next week, the Queens Courier reported. Business owners previously said they were unfairly targeted as the city reviews a redevelopment plan for the area. Businesses at 38-01 126th Street and 37-11 126th Street were affected. The Department of Buildings said the businesses were using improper construction material and working without permits. The Department of Housing Preservation and Development, which owns the properties, said the city would fund repairs at the stores.
