Art Deco Condo Rising in Forest Hills

Aston Forest Hills

A 16-story condo tower is under construction on Queens Boulevard between Continental Avenue and 71st Road in Forest Hills, DNAinfo reported. The building, branded as the Aston, is scheduled for completion in June 2014 and was designed by Morali Architects. It’s Art Deco inspired and has a rooftop garden. Cord Meyer is the developer. The building will have 100 condo units with one- and two-bedrooms, ranging from $600,000 to $750,000. The apartments will be between 800 and 1,200 square feet. A CVS pharmacy will lease the ground floor retail space. GMAP

  • I live a few blocks away from the site of this new building. I think it is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. That block on the north side of Queens Boulevard had been an eyesore for years. There was a strip of run-down low-end stores on that block for many years. Once this building is complete, that block will be vastly improved compared to what was there before. Even a CVS, while not that exciting, will be an improvement compared to the run-down stores that used to be on that block.
The new building will be in a great location, basically right on top of the 71st/Continental subway station. But even with the great location and the building’s amenities, I’m not sure that they will be able to get such a high price for a 1 BR apartment. It will be interesting to see how quickly the apartments will sell at those prices.

    • Who would want to pay $700k for a condo and ride with the savages on the E and F train to the city?
These owners will be taking the LIRR for sure.

      • I take the E or F train every day to Manhattan and I’ve never seen any “savages”, just other people listening to music on their I-Phones, reading their newspapers, books, Kindles or I-Pads or just sitting quietly or dozing off during their morning commute.
