Closing Bell: Community Boards OK East Elmhurst Rezoning

East Elmhurst

Queens Community Boards 3 and 4 have voted to support the proposed rezoning of 127 blocks of East Elmhurst and 14 blocks in Corona, the Queens Courier reported. The rezoning, announced by the Department of City Planning earlier this month, seeks to protect the one- and two-family homes in the neighborhood’s residential blocks. It also calls for some commercial development along Roosevelt Avenue and Astoria Boulevard. The Queens borough president will make recommendations on the proposal next, followed by binding votes from City Planning and the City Coucil later this year.
