On Tuesday, the Museum of the Moving Image dedicated its new outdoor courtyard, named for trustee George S. Kaufman. The space is 10,370 square feet and will host an outdoor cafe, screenings and exhibits. It is the final part of the museum’s expansion and renovation plans, designed by Leeser Architecture. City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs were credited with raising $1.25 million for the project, along with an additional $1 million donated by Kaufman and other private sources. The courtyard will open during the Queens Art Express Party on Saturday, June 22, from 1 pm to 6 pm and then open officially on July 5.
