Hungry Jackson Heights commuters will soon have anther food option when they get off the train at the 74th Street station. Construction is starting up again in what will soon be an outlet of the Famous Famiglia pizza chain. Some design specifications that were outstanding were just approved by the MTA which owns the 3,000 square foot, two-story property allowing work to be completed on the restaurant. An MTA spokesperson told DNAinfo there had been a “protracted debate over design specifications for an ejector pit that removes waste water from premises.” The pizza chain won the bid for the space in 2011 and signed a 20 year lease at the time. Designs were approved in March of 2012 and work began shortly thereafter. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
