The Thai restaurant Arunee has marked its territory at 7823 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights, the former location of Novo. A tipster snapped the above picture of the liquor license notice posted on the window. Novo closed this spring, and recently we wondered what would move into the space. Commenters on Jackson Heights Life had suspected Arunee, currently located at 37-68 79th Street off of Roosevelt Avenue, planned to open up here. And now it’s confirmed! Excited?

It’s no Ayada in Elmhurst, which is the most formidable Thai restaurant in NYC since the original Planet Thai in Williamsburg (and superior to even the amazing Sripraphai), but great to see a really solid restaurant entering that space. I can’t wait to go! Go JH.
Arunee is a really good Thai restaurant, so it’s exciting to see they’ll move into a more prominent location. On a wintery night, try the plainly named but delicious pig leg. (It’s a braised dish with a bitter green.)
