twa-terminal

We’re a bit late to this news, but it’s worth mentioning that over the weekend, The Post reported that hotelier Andre Balazs will develop a hotel at JFK Airport’s historic TWA Terminal. It’ll be called the Standard, Flight Center and, in addition to hotel rooms, will feature a conference center, restaurants, retail space, a spa and fitness center, and a flight museum. The original building, designed by Eero Saarinen and opened in 1962, will remain intact: The Port Authority’s Pat Foye promised that they are “committed to preserving the essence of [Saarinen’s] iconic design.” There’s no time frame on the project, and the Port Authority Board still needs to approve the proposal.
