A couple of weeks after being alluded to in this New York Times article, expansion plans (and renderings!) for Long Island City’s Ravel Hotel have been released. According to Queens Courier, the hotel owners plan to build a new 10-story building adjacent to the existing six-story hotel at 8-08 Queens Plaza South. It’ll be called the Estate at Ravel and will cost a total of $10,000,000. The new addition will have 45,000 square feet of catering and meeting areas, 54 guest rooms, a ballroom, 35,000 square feet of outdoor space and a reflecting pool that becomes an ice skating rink in the winter. Each guest room will come with private outdoor space; the two bridal suites will have wraparound terraces. According to the Courier, the next door construction will in no way affect the operations at the existing hotel building. The ETA for the addition is the winter of 2014.
