The Wave published a roundup of the construction progress at the Rockaways libraries damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Here goes: construction’s wrapping up at Seaside Library at 116-15 Rockaway Beach Boulevard and it is expected to open in late October; the library at 312 Beach 54th Street will reopen in December (a temporary library remains open seven days a week); Peninsula Library at 92-25 Rockaway Beach Boulevard should open in the spring of next year and will operate out of a trailer until that time; and the Far Rockaway Library at 1637 Central Avenue is undergoing a complete redesign, rendered above. Once open in 2016, the Far Rockaway Library will offer plenty of new services, including one that will assist families with food stamps, health insurance, public assistance and housing assistance.
