87-73 96th street

The home for sale at 87-73 96th Street in Woodhaven has decent bones but it’s going to need some TLC. We don’t think many will love the bizarre ceiling pattern that reoccurs throughout the house, it also looks like the third floor is used as a three-bedroom rental that will need some upgrades. This could potentially be a huge single-family home but it will take some work to get there. What do you make of an ask of $679,000?

  1. 4 units in a 1 family house. If you try to do a legit renovations with permits that is, won’t the city flag the illegal basement apartment? I doubt there’s a separate meter for the attic apartment. Pretty sure to be legit you probably need a fire escape and possibly sprinklers. Geez the garage is probably a studio apartment. These are the types of situations where whole families perish in house fires. Ozone park and Richmond Hill are full of these as well. Woodhaven is mostly working class immigrant families so I doubt this will revert back to a single family based on the estimated mortgage. Woodhaven has a ton of legit multi family houses for less money, closer to the train near the brooklyn border, why bother with this possible headache.
