Today Mount Sinai Queens broke ground on the $125,000,000 expansion of its medical center at 25-10 30th Avenue in Astoria. The hospital is building a new five-story building, increasing the size of the emergency department from 4,000 to 20,000 square feet. Once complete, Mount Sinai will focus on better outpatient care, hire 40 new physicians, have new operating suites and offer additional diagnostic and laboratory services. You can see a rendering of the expanded hospital after the jump. Mount Sinai tweeted today: “The goal of the Mount Sinai Queens expansion is to provide one stop shop for families to get all the healthcare they need & a healthy Queens.”
