5POINTZ-white

This morning, the 5Pointz Twitter feed reports the latest crazy news in the crazy saga of 5Pointz. The building owners Jerry and David Wolkoff painted the building white last night with police protection. Another Tweet notes that the 5Pointz artists almost got arrested. We will update this post with more photos as they become available — after the jump, see another shot of the artwork that’s left on the back wall. If you snap any pictures yourself please send them directly to emily@brownstoner.com.

The white-out comes after a judge denied the artists a permanent injunction to stop demolition. In response, the artists held a rally this weekend. They planned to form a human chain around the building come demolition day, which is expected before the end of the year.

As this Twitter user says, “All you #7train riders this morning are in for a bleak look as you pass #5pointz this morning. Its now an ugly hospital white.” One more photo after the jump… UPDATE: Many more photos of the paint job in question after the jump, including five photos from one reader’s commute this morning and video taken from the train.

  1. I feel for you Steve. Just from reading your comments on this page, it’s obvious that you lack any creative ability, and judging by your apparent resentment against the youth (“just some stupid kids”), it’s clear that you have a deep underlying issue, stemming from your past experiences that has yet to be resolved. Possibly an over-bearing, potentially abusive father that caused you to believe that youths haven’t “earned their keep”, therefore the elders deserve to be the ones of power? Or could it possibly be because of a bad relationship or experience you’ve had with a youth (or if you have children it could possibly be from that too)? I’m not certain of where this anger arose from Steve but I’m here to help. The jealousy that emanates from you is powerful, and I sense that deep down you believe that this graffiti is in fact art, but your lack of creativity is what causes you to show such strong, negative emotion towards it. Maybe taking an art class or learning an instrument will aid you in accepting your true feelings of why you say you despise the graffiti, and possibly even help you refrain from pushing your pessimistic attitude onto people (which, by the way, uses an absolutely deplorable comparison when stating that a distinct work of art is in any way similar dog piss). With some practice in the arts, coupled with a few sessions with your local psychiatrist, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying your life. I wish you the best, Steve.
