DNAinfo shares an update on the Chetrit Group’s plans to convert the Mary Immaculate Hospital into a market-rate apartment building: interior demolition began several weeks ago, but the DOB just issued a Stop Work Order for “excessive debris at the site.” Development is expected to take several years and Community Board 12 doesn’t expect the developers to present official plans until 2015. The former hospital site, which closed in 2009 after it went bankrupt, has long been home to trash, vandals and squatters.
