Joe-Abbracciamento-closed

After an announcement this January that Joe Abbracciamento Restaurant is closing on Woodhaven Boulevard, DNAinfo reports that the final day of service will be this Sunday. The Italian spot, open in the neighborhood for more than six decades, is closing because the owners are retiring. It is possible that owner John Abbracciamento may open a smaller restaurant someday in the future.

Since the closing announcement, the restuarant received an outpouring of support and has served thousands of people. As a diner told DNAinfo: “It will be missed. It was part of this town.”

  1. As a long term Middle Village resident, I have overheard many rumors as to who has purchased the entire block where Abbracciamentos’ has been for so long. Criterion group has recently submitted drawings to the building department for a 7 story residential building. Most likely condominiums. Luckily, Criterion has developed quality looking buildings in the past and they are an experienced developer.
