LIC Post shares all the details on the state’s proposal for a dog run right between the P.S./I.S. 78Q school building and the Queens West Sports Field. State officials proposed a 3,000 square foot space with a landscaped buffer around it. The entrance would be located along Center Boulevard, with another green buffer on the opposite side of the park along 5th Street. The whole shebang is estimated to cost around $750,000.

The proposal is smaller than initial plans for a dog run at this location, after parents complained they didn’t want the entrance too close to the school next door. Community Board Two will hold a public hearing on the matter most likely in March. Until then, no one has made a final decision on whether or not this proposal will become a reality.
