A Q’Stoner tipster sent along the above photo of construction underway on the corner of Ditmars Boulevard and 36th Street, with news that a coffee house is moving in. Actually, We Heart Astoria published a rumor last year that Avenue Cafe, located at 35-27 30th Avenue, planned to open a second location on that very corner. We gave Avenue Cafe a call and while the employee we spoke with did not have details, he said he knew the owners were working on something on Ditmars and 36th. From the looks of the photo, the space still has a ways to go. Stay tuned for more details… GMAP
Walked past this morning! I think, though, according to the rumors I’ve been following on We Love Astoria, that this coffee shop is the project of the Brooklyn Bagel folks (in the old Gayatri bodega space). Across the street on the northwest corner is the Avenue project, where they’ve been going like gangbusters tearing out walls!
