Tomorrow, MillionTrees NYC will plant trees and shrubs in Jamaica Bay Park with the help of 120 volunteers and students from PS 161. The tree planting initiative is the result of a partnership with the New York Knicks and the company PwC. PwC promised to donate one tree for every three-pointer the Knicks made at Madison Square Garden during the 2013-14 season. After 38 home games, the Knicks connected on 355 three-pointers and PwC committed to more than triple that number, with 1,500 trees and 200 shrubs for Jamaica Bay Park. The planting will last from noon to 4 pm tomorrow, with guests like Walt “Clyde” Frazier, Anthony Mason, Kym Hampton and the Knicks City Dancers.

This planting event is aimed to help restore the 18,000-acre wetland estuary, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
