The American Folk Art Museum may have lost its headquarters in Lincoln Square, but it’s setting up a new home in Long Island City. The New York Times reports that the museum plans to establish a 17,000-square-foot annex for its collection and library near the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center. While the museum will dedicate most of the space to storage, they do plan on opening a 2,000-square-foot exhibit hall.

The annex should open in LIC early next year. The exact location of it is not yet known. As the Folk Museum director told the Times, “We think it’s a real opportunity to share pieces for which we often get inquiries. And Queens is a great location for us.”
