It’s unique, but multifaceted. It’s local, but international. It’s filthy rich in culture, but free. On August 30th, the Queens Museum will host Oye Corona, an afternoon celebration of art, music, dance, print-making, and exercise at Corona Plaza. Visitors will be able to partake in creative activities with roots in Bangladesh, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and even the United States.

Bangladeshi International Performing Arts Institute was founded in 1993 to promote Bengali cultural traditions in New York City. The group will perform Bangla music and dance.

Lady K Fever is an inter-disciplinary artist and curator from Canada specializing in painting, installation, photography, performance and public art projects. She’ll lead an art-making workshop.

BombaYo is a youth project dedicated to preserving the African-Puerto Rican musical tradition of Bomba. The group will mix singing, dancing, and drumming in a celebration of life.

Mobile Print Power is a cooperative mobile printmaking workshop and print collective. Members will teach silkscreen printmaking using a mobile printmaking cart.

Veronica Ramirez of Immigrant Movement International will lead Mujeres en Movimiento, an exercise dance class using a variety of Latin American rhythms. The class will be in Spanish, but all are certainly invited.
