It’s always a bumper crop in these parts. This Sunday, the Queens Botanical Garden hosts its fourth annual Harvest Fest & Pumpkin Patch, a day-long, family-friendly bash with great food, live entertainment, craft vendors, children’s activities, a bird-and-nature walk, the famous beer tent, and gourds galore.

The fun starts at 11 am, when QBG staffer and acclaimed avian photographer Shari Romar leads a stroll around the premises to check out warblers, blue jays, robins, and probably even a red tailed hawk. Live music begins at 11:30 am with the Lonesome Moonlight String Band, and the pumpkin patch opens at noon. Other activities include pony rides, a cider press, a petting zoo, a maize maze, botanical workshops, and an exploration through the newly re-paved Cherry Circle, the lush Fragrance Walk, Four Seasons Border, and the Green Roof with QBG Executive Director Susan Lacerte at 2 pm.

Adding the experience is a marketplace featuring La Crepe C’est Si Bon, Bayside Corn, Sweet Dream Cake Pops, Andy’s Italian Ices & Espresso Bar and that wonderful adult tent with a variety of local and sustainably made craft beers and ciders.
