Prodigy

He has presented an annual concert since age 5. He made his orchestral debut and composed his first orchestral work at age 6. His television show debuted when he was age 7. Now, he’s 10 years old, and he’s ready to give a concert in Queens. More info on jump page.

Piano prodigy Huang Tiange will perform three Mozart Sonatas and his Xinjiang Suite at Flushing Town Hall on October 5th in celebration of the Golden Season in Beijing, his hometown. A reception follows. Famous throughout China, Huang currently lives in New York City, where he is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. In fact, he won the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award last year. Click here and watch him dazzle.

Flushing Town Hall will go crazy the night before, when M.A.K.U. SoundSystem fills the joint with its explosive sound. With hints of Colombian folklore, psychedelic-rock, jazz and Caribbean grooves, this immigrant band sings about love, hardships, culture, and the immigrant experience. Watch (and dance) here. The event will feature a “Post-Concert Artist Talk Back” during which band members will share their experiences as Latino immigrants in NYC.
