  1. If cops are parking all over the side walks in your neighborhood you could complain but part ofc the problem is that they will not ticket eachother. Now that traffic enforcement agents fall under the NYPD the traffic agents won’t even ticket the personal vehicles of cops. If you do complain you will probably notice a blitz of ticket writing in your neighborhood for all types of offenses. If I had the benefit of riding the trains for free as cops do, I’d take advantage of it in order to save gas. I understand that they work all hours of the day and night and this would mean riding the trains during off hours but they carry personal firearms which average NYer’s who travel to and from work during off peak hours can’t do.

  2. umm.. there may not be legislation mandating parking for cops.. but it doesn’t matter b/c they just park whereever the hell they want anyway. go near any precinct and you’ll see them all over the place, sidewalks, hydrients, you name it.

  3. It is matter of convenience for the judges. Although you will almost never hear about it CO’s and cops get threatened more often than judges but there is no “legislation” mandating parking for them. Whenever a judge is threatened they are provided with security to and from work and while at home as it should be but others especially CO’s have to just handle it as part of their job. Many of the judges spots are used by their staff; court clerks, court officers, etc… There is even a court officer assigned outside of every court to make sure that no one but the judges and their staff park in these designated spots.
