OTHELLOPC

It all began with A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the fall, and then it heated up with A Christmas Carol in December. Now, the Shakespeare-inspired Titan Theatre Company is ready to spring forward with an all-female version of Othello. That’s right.

The Bard of Avon’s most masculine play about a tragic hero, deceit, and loyalty will feature a dozen women. On Friday, Titan kicks off an 11-show run at Queens Theatre, where it’s also ending its first season as “artists in residence.” Since its start in a Tex-Mex restaurant in Long Island City in 2009, Titan  has endeavored to breathe new life and clarity into classical plays through visceral, challenging, ensemble-driven productions in Queens.

Details: Othello, Queens Theatre, 14 United Nations Avenue South, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, April 18 through May 2, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm, Sunday at 4 pm, $18.
