Briarwood-Van Wyck Subway Entrance Won’t Open Until Spring

    by

The new entrance to the Briarwood-Van Wyck subway station, a project started in 2010, won’t open until March after a number of delays. DNAinfo reports that the new Queens Boulevard and Main Street entrance was expected to open this fall, and the DOT hasn’t provided much information on the holdups. Nearby residents, however, are frustrated with the never-ending construction, as well as traveling to the alternate entrance near the Maple Grove Cemetery. The new entryway is part of the Kew Gardens Interchange project, an infrastructure project to widen the Van Wyck Expressway and rebuild its bridges and ramps. The massive undertaking, which will cost are $147,000,000, is about halfway finished.
