There is some construction going down at 270 Court, and someone inside said to expect a “Beer Bar Bistro” coming into the space soon. That area of Smith and Court is pretty packed with restaurants and bars, so hopefully this place will be able to hold their own. GMAP

  1. I hope he does better with `Strong Place,’ as Boca Lupa is a gorgeous space that people in this area of Cobble Hill were really looking forward to. Problem is, the bare cement floor makes the place as loud as an aircraft carrier hangar, and the lack of a real kitchen is a shame. A real good french/american bistro would have been perfect, with a broad selection of beers. Instead the panini and snacks menu has attracted every hedge fund manager wife-who-lunches and their screaming charges west of Sixth Avenue.

  2. The Brazen Head is in the neighborhood on Atlantic near Court. And you have the Waterfront Ale House.

If you want good beer though, you’re better off heading toward Park Slope and hitting up 4th Ave Pub, Pacific Standard and Mission Dolores.

  3. One way or the other, count me as one who won’t be upset to have another option with a wide selection of quality beers in the area. Bar Great Harry, Downtown Bar and Grill (despite some detractors), but are there any other bars that I am missing that have a good selection in the area? BHillGuy, I know there are plenty of bars in the neighborhood where one can get a beer, but they all seem to have the same selection of the usual beers.
