We’ve put off mentioning the impending arrival in Fort Greene of Williamsburg Mexican mainstay Bonita for fear of being accused of nepotism (the proprietrors were our landlords back when we lived on the South Side and that’s their shingle hanging in the advertising column), but one of the neighborhood blogs has picked it up, so the cat’s out of the bag. Brought to you by the same team behind Diner, Marlow & Sons and the original Bonita on Bedford Avenue, the DeKalb Avenue location of Bonita II is finally moving ahead after some thumb-twiddling while the Landmarks Preservation Commission signed off on the renovation plans. We’d place the odds of this being an immediate success at, oh, 100%.
Finally, Some Real Freakin’ Mexi in FG [Clintoncentric]
Ah…Cino’s…grew up going there…Miss that joint. Mullane’s burgers ROCK by the way!
Miss Cino’s
Wow you all must go to really good restaurants?
Signed,
Don’t miss cinos
Mullane’s Bar and Grill is now open. Word on the street says they have good burgers.
I second (or third) missing Cino’s. Anyone have an ETA on the opening of this place, the Smoke Joint (replacing Cambodian Cuisine), the supposed burger joint opening next to Corcoran on Lafayette, Chez Lola on Myrtle, or Mulamy’s Bar and Grill on Lafayette and South Elliot? Delivery options are about to double, and some existing places are gonna have to step up their game.
I’m excited it’s Mexican. Yummy yummy yum. If their track record is any indication, should be good stuff. And no, I don’t know them, this is a totally unbiased opinion.
I really miss cinos. It was the only decent restaurant in the neighborhood for 20+ years.
i’m bummed it’s mexican. there are already plenty of great mexican places in the area.
Correct. Just off Vanderbilt, right across from Ici.
It looks like the old Italian Restaurant that was on DeKalb, just off Vanderbilt, for over 50 years. Across from The Alibi Bar.
