New York City College of Technology (City Tech) is offering an afternoon seminar, Anatomy of a Brownstone III: Inside and Outside, on Saturday, October 28. This is a chance to learn about the process of renovating and restoring a brownstone from academic and industry experts. Presentations will include a case study in working with an architect, obtaining Landmarks Permits, locating furnishings that blend old and new (like the tub, above, one expert will discuss), and undoing a previous owner’s mistakes. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., in the Atrium Amphitheater, 300 Jay Street at Tillary, Downtown Brooklyn. Admission is $35 per person. Pre-register by calling 718-552-1170.
This is a really good, informative program. I attended a previous one, and the speakers were great, and even an old brownstoner like me learned a lot of cool stuff. Get away from your computers and check it out!
