The weekend comes with outdoor fairs and activities – there’s music in LIC, a farmer’s market in Flushing, and fairs and festivals in Floral Park and Ridgewood.

Hot Box (Premiere) – This show from Brian Rogers, the musical director of LIC’s Chocolate Factory Theater, premieres tonight. Rogers and production manager Madeline Best combine images, lights, and live performance to deliver an intense piece for the senses. At the center of their set is the question regarding how deeply video can connect with live performance; Rogers and Best’s attempt at an answer has a good chance of being chaotic yet exhilarating.

Farmer’s Market at Queens Botanical Garden – End your work week with a visit to this market at the Queens Botanical Garden. There will be fresh produce, as well as edible treats available, like artisan coffees and nut butters. And before hitting the market, consider first downloading the Botanical Garden’s “Garden Tour App” and exploring the magnificent grounds and collections.

The Amazing Maize Maze – Saturday is the first day of this annual tradition at the Queens County Farm Museum. The maze is made of tall stalks of corn (aka maize), and apparently is not for the weary and can be quite the challenge. Your adventure will start with a “stalk talk,” to prepare you for the puzzles and other things you’ll find in the maze.

Myrtle Avenue Festival – Ridgewood is also busy this weekend, as a Clearview Festival Productions brings this street fair to Myrtle Avenue, between Fresh Pond Road and Wyckoff Ave. There will be all the traditional fair offerings like funnel cakes and sausages, as well as games and rides for the kids.

If by any chance we missed your favorite upcoming or regular event in Queens, please let us know!
