A new art installation is on view in the Pearl Street Triangle in Dumbo, where it will remain until April 30. The piece is called Heartwalk and it just finished a one-month run in Times Square, although it’ll be on display longer in Brooklyn. The designers, Situ Studio, actually have their offices in Dumbo as well. Situ built the 30-foot heart artwork for Valentines Day and in memory of Hurricane Sandy. The heart is built entirely from wooden planks salvaged from the boardwalks of the Rockaways, Long Beach and New Jersey. Visitors can interact with the piece by standing in the middle of the heart, and it’s also viewable from the Manhattan Bridge bike lane. Check out a picture taken yesterday of the under-construction work after the jump. And here’s a cool arial pic of the finished product in daylight from Situ’s Twitter account.
