We were recently tipped off to a couple of new places opening up in Astoria. First, there’s Off The Hook, which is in the space that was home to Montenegro Grille, a place to get veal brains (among other things). According to Off The Hook’s awning, they’ll be serving oysters, steamers, beer, and wine. H/T @tastoriaqueens and @LanaLauriano for bringing this to our attention.

Local realtor Peter Horowitz has been keeping an eye a spot on Broadway that has been under construction, and now we know what it will be – Tamashii Ramen. The main game in town when it comes to ramen has been HinoMaru on Ditmars, so this will bring additional ramen to the neighborhood, and we believe Astorians will flock to it, and stick around if it’s good. Plus it’s opening in the part of Astoria that is home to a growing Japanese population. The new ramen place will be not far from the most excellent Family Market, Astoria’s only Japanese market.

Neither place has an online presence as of this writing.

Off The Hook, 28-08 34th Street, Astoria NY 11103 (GMAP)
Tamashii Ramen, 29-05 Broadway, Astoria NY 11106 (GMAP)
