A tipster happened on some workers sprucing up the garage space at 613 Franklin Avenue, where a seafood restaurant is in the works. The Crabby Shack hopes to open in June and will serve all things crab, including tacos, dumplings, mac n cheese and pot pie flavored with the crustacean as well as whole steamed crabs and sides such as corn on the cob, according to a story in DNAinfo. The restaurant also has a Kickstarter campaign.

This is a big deal for this stretch of Franklin, since all the dining action so far has been closer to Eastern Parkway. But things could look very different in this spot soon: The owner across the street is developing the old brewery, as reported, and we hear the rest of the development site, which was asking $18,000,000, is in contract. And, of course, Berg’n is set to open next month around the corner. GMAP

  1. This little stretch of franklin will have all the seafood I need (almost) between oysters at Docklands and Mayfield, and this crab shack. I wouldnt be surprised if they expand into lobster. A fishmonger would be nice, but the walk to Vanderbilt isnt bad.
