  1. Suburbandude….I am with you. I visit that Super Walmart and go there for black friday as my sister lives 15 mins away. It is worth the trek for me from Brooklyn for the savings alone. It is also one stop shopping as they have a very large housewares dept, electronics, groceries, meat, deli, fresh fruits and veggies, beauty and health depts to mention a few. Bjs is next door so I trek over there and end up at Woodbury Commons outlets down the road. I am praying they put a Super Walmart in East New York or anywhere in Brooklyn or one of the boroughs. It would save me travel time but I love Walmart and dont see what the fuss about. If you dont like it dont patronize it.Simple.It beats that ugly empty lot and would provide some much needed jobs. I would take a job without a union over no job at all.

  2. “I don’t think anyone outside the communiuty[sic] should have a say in this.

The councilman wants it. The people need it”.

I agree with your first sentence DIBS, but your second sentence is in error. According to the NY Times article linked to this item the local councilman, Charles Barron, has come out AGAINST Walmart being located at the site in question. Therefore I’d imagine that you agree that Walmart should NOT open a store there.

  3. I recently was in a Super Walmart in Monroe in Orange County. This is a newer store, and much nicer than the old and tired Walmarts I has previoulsy visited. I assume the ENY site would look like this store.

The selection and the prices are incredible, and the store is bright and clean.

And to think that some hack politicans, because they are paid off by the UCFW (or whatever its called), would rather see their constituents pay astronomical prices in dirty and over-priced Pioneer markets.

    It’s almost criminal.
